Calema Windsurfing traces its roots back to the mid seventies, where Tinho Dornellas began working as a fiberglass fabricator in the Portuguese navy. As a true waterman, Tinho spent his spare time shaping boards, kayaks and even the first surf ski with John Byde,

Tinho’s early boards all bear the original Calema “3 wave” emblem. A few years later in 1978, Tinho tried windsurfing for the first time and he was hooked. Later moving to Brazil and eventually landing in Mexico.

Susie later traveled to Cancun and Tinho happened to be her windsurfing instructor … the rest IS the history of Calema. We are proud to share our collection of the best performing gear, collected over the years for your enjoyment.
